HAS JUBILEE GOVERNMENT FAILED KENYANS?

Now i believe why they said do not judge a book by its cover. Remind me of the launch of jubilee manifesto during 2013 election campaigns. The mantra was that a “change of guard” has finally come. A young generation of leadership as they claimed. We saw youths and our own Kenyan music celebrities taking over the colorful ceremony. New cabinet secretaries were appointed and this time number reduced claiming to reduce expenditure and the most important thing a new friendship bond between his Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto was created. The jubilee government promised us a lot; more jobs for the youths, youths and women empowerment funds, free laptop project for class one children e.t.c.

They promised us bread but they are giving us stones to chew. We are still jobless. Youth funds being mismanaged. Tax payer’s money still in the hands of “man eaters”. Actually there is nothing like young government but old people masqueraded in young faces.

Many thought this dream will become true. Question is, has the jubilee government failed us?  They started making excuses that they had a shorter time to achieve all this when the opposition started questioning on their lax. Years down we have experienced insecurity cases around the country .terrorism became the new headline in the dailies. The government failed to protect its citizens and what we saw was only confused minds. The president was seen in adverts “ulinzi unaanza na wewe” campaign advising Kenyan citizens to be on the look that raised the nyumba kumi initiative.

Corruption is still at the peak with most of the highly profiled personalities mentioned in corruption cases. Even the president himself was heard at a particular time saying that his office has corrupt people. These people still walk free either because they are protected by the state or it depends with amount of coin in your pocket. Ironically this so called young government that was believed to eradicate corruption has really failed us.

There is still high cost of living. Kenyans are becoming poorer and cannot afford cheap basic needs i.e good food and proper medical care. Citizens cannot afford medical attention leading to high death rate of both the young and old. Visiting some of the slums in Kenya children are affected with malnutrition diseases, some of them dropping out of school.

Youths were promised free jobs and    where are these jobs? After graduating from universities we expect to find jobs. Walk to any office in Kenya and you will be asked to have fifteen years of experience to qualify for the job. These are only but a few challenges that the jubilee government has failed to attend to properly.

Were these promises PR? Only to sell their manifesto. It has failed its citizens for improper accountability of their work. Many feel the government has failed and it should not deserve a second chance some feel it should be given more time to attend to issues they promised them.
